Talking I'm not a Twilight fan...

...so I found this extremely, pant-peeingly, funny!

I didn't realize there were so many of us!!!!!

Warning. This blog is probably NC-17

Twilight Bash

I put this in the Reading for Insomniacs forum because I don't really expect a long discussion about the movies or books. I just thought I would share the hilarity with any fellow Twilight-annoys-the-crap-out-of-me folks out there.

Haven't read it. Haven't seen the movie.

But I read a snippet from a Stephen King interview and he didn't have great things to say about the quality of the writing of the books.

Not that many people in the main demographic for those book care about quality writing... what with their lolspeak and all.

You know jealousy is a truly ugly thing...

As I read through the dribble on the website all I could think is:

'Wow' a whole 15 responses - Now I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that Stephanie Myers has sold more than 15 books and that more than 15 people have seen the movie - so I'm taking a stab in the dark here (& not with any fangs) thinking that maybe...just maybe.... her books aren't so bad after all?

I read a lot of books and I managed to read all 4 in the series without thinking 'oh this is crap' every 5 minutes... I actually read between the lines and enjoyed the story for what it is - a teen story.

I admit there were a few places where I thought 'I personally would have written that differently' ... but you know as I'm the person struggling to pay my bills and She's the millionaire - I don't feel I have the right to criticize too much!

Maybe James Wanker.... oops I mean James Wan - is particularly slow on the uptake and needs his choice of literature to have more pictures and less words?? Perhaps I could suggest 'Cat in the Hat'?

Responses such as:
i hate twilight and i hate stephanie meyer by some of the responders suggests:

Their lack of education (No use of capitals) and intelligence as - they may hate Twilight but they probably have never met Stephanie Meyer - so how do they know if they hate her?

Again jealousy springs to mind.....!!!!!

Bet they'd like her more if she offered to split her book takings with them.....

The same goes for J.K - I think her Harry Potter books are fantastic - they may not be Hemingway - but if they can get kids and teens all over the World reading books - then I for one salute her! (Same too with Stephanie Meyer!)

Besides these people attend Comic con - they probably don't live in the real World! (Not that I don't wish to attend comic con and would if it came to my town lol! But then I know ... I live in a far away place where the sky is yellow with pink polka dots and everything else is made of chocolate!)

haha! Yea.

Again, I'm not a Twilight fan, but I do agree with you.

I just haven't laughed that hard at anything in a while. Partly because I agree with some of it and partly because it is everything you said above.

I'm sure Meyer is laughing all the way to the bank (and good for her) and really doesn't give a hoot about James Wan's rant.

I've read the books. They're not meant to be literary genius - they're meant to be exactly what they are - stories for teens.

I did however buy my nephew (a Buffy fan) a shirt to wear around his girlfriend (a Twilight fan) because it was just too funny to resist.

It reads:

"And then Buffy staked Edward.......The End."

Wow just wow guy, you just got I'm not even sure what but...

A post from aug 14th from the same blog. Congrats Paula you just got ridiculed by an amateur horror movie critic/fan (though I'd honestly be curious how he came across your post). That just boggled my mind.

Jealousy.

Of course I’m jealous of the fact that she’s a millionaire, just as I’m jealous of anyone who has more than two months worth of rent in their saving account. MNy hatred for Twilight stems from the fact that it’s the lowest of the low when it comes to literature and film. Failing to realize that most of mankind, or in this case womankind, are brainless sacks of walking skin who will consume anything forced down their throats (see: anything by Dan Brown), she equates sales to talent, something a screenwriter (which I presume she is) should know is absolute bullshit.

She then goes on to reason away the shitty writing by placing it within the context of the teen genre, as if that is an excuse to write utter trash. Enjoying the story for “what it is” is difficult with prose like this:

He lay perfectly still in the grass, his shirt open over his sculpted, incandescent chest, his scintillating arms bare. His glistening, pale lavender lids were shut, though of course he didn’t sleep. A perfect statue, carved in some unknown stone, smooth like marble, glittering like crystal.

And then for some reason she thinks I’m James Wan, the director of the first Saw film:

I believe I mentioned in a previous thread that I thought the book Twilight was poorly written and boring. The young people seem to like it, though. As Paula mentioned, Stephenie Myer is the millionaire, I'm not. The thing that bothers me most about, Twilight, however, is that I believe it sets a bad example by normalizing a dysfunctional "romantic" relationship and even making it seems desirable. I don't think that's something we want to encourage for young women, who often have a difficult enough time with relationships in their teen years anyway.
